Free Service Profitability Calculator

Free Service Profitability Calculator

A service can be fully booked and still not make you enough money.

The Beauty Price Profit Check™ helps you work out your:

  • True cost per appointment
  • Real hourly earnings
  • Profit margin
  • Recommended price

Designed for braiders, hairstylists, beauty therapists, nail techs, lash techs, barbers, loc artists, wig and extension specialists and other beauty professionals.

BEFORE YOU START

Your price needs to cover more than your products.

TIME + SKILL + PRODUCTS + OVERHEADS + PROFIT

Your business model matters too.

A home-based stylist, mobile professional, chair renter, studio owner and salon owner will all have different costs.

1. SERVICE TIME

Enter the total time involved in the appointment — not just the hands-on treatment.

Include preparation, consultation, detangling, washing, drying, setup, cleaning, finishing and takedown where applicable.

2. PRODUCT COST

Enter what you actually use per client, not what you paid for your entire stock.

Include hair, extensions, colour, lashes, nail products, treatments and other materials.

Don’t forget small consumables such as gloves, thread, gel, files, foils, cleaning products and packaging.

3. YOUR BUSINESS COSTS

Your business has expenses even when you have no clients.

Consider:

Rent + insurance + booking software + phone + marketing + equipment + subscriptions + education + utilities + other regular costs

Use your realistic average number of monthly appointments, not your best month.

4. PAY YOURSELF

Your hourly rate should reflect your skill, experience, service time and business responsibilities.

Minimum wage is an employee benchmark — it isn’t automatically an appropriate self-employed rate.

Use the calculator to decide what you need to earn per working hour for your own circumstances.

5. PROFIT MARGIN

Your profit margin shows what is left from the service price after the costs included in the calculator.

For example:

€100 price − €60 costs = €40 remaining

That’s a 40% margin.

Remember: service margin is not the same as your final annual take-home income. Taxes, downtime, cancellations, equipment, marketing and other expenses can reduce your overall business profit.

THE GOLDEN RULE

Don’t ask only:

“What are other people charging?”

Ask:

“Does MY price cover MY costs, pay me properly and leave enough profit to run a sustainable business?”

Because:

BUSY ≠ PROFITABLE

Your price should pay for your time, your costs, your skill — and your profit.

First Calculate what youre CURRENTLY earning – then use the next calculator is check if your price is ACTUALLY profitable:

THE BEAUTY HOURLY EARNINGS CHECK™

What are you actually earning per hour?

Your service price isn't your hourly pay. See what is really left after your time, products and business costs.

Include prep, consultation, setup, cleanup and admin time if they are part of the appointment.

Now let’s find out whether your price is actually profitable.

FREE BEAUTY BUSINESS CALCULATOR

Is Your Pricing Profitable?

Built with braiders, Afro-hair specialists and beauty professionals in mind. Find out what your service really costs — and what you should charge.

01

Choose your service

Start with what you do.

Include consultation, prep, detangling, washing/blow-drying, setup, finishing and cleanup in the time — not just the installation itself.
02

What goes into the appointment?

Especially important for braids, Afro hair and extension services.

For braids, enter the cost of the hair you actually use or supply to the client — not the retail price you paid for a whole bulk pack unless you use the whole pack.
03

Your business overhead

These costs have to be covered too.

Important: profit margin is not the same as adding 40% to your costs. The calculator uses your target margin correctly.
